Recommendations when preparing layouts

What can happen?
Ink set-off: ink transferring from one printed sheet to the back-page of the next one.

How to avoid it?
- Front and back-page in the same key are desirable;
- if you need a contrast of the front and pack-page on paper with a basis weight of 350 g/m (f.e., for printing business cards, calendars) we advise to laminate the dark side.

What can happen?
Cutting error is up to 3 mm, depending on product type, and it’s virtually impossible to cut exactly though cut line. So the frame will be uneven.

How to avoid it?
Frames should be no thinner than 5 mm, in this case the asymmetry won’t catch the eye so much. But it’s better to avoid using frames on the layout edges.;

What can happen?
Due to the cutting error (approximately 2 mm), texts, logos and other elements, which are close to the cut line, can be cut.

How to avoid it?
It’s correct to place the significant elements no closer than 2 mm to the cut line.;

What can happen?
Flat tints, produced with one ink, are unsaturated, almost grey. Besides, in the act of color separation overprint attribute are automatically assigned to all black vector elements. If there are motley images or colorful elements under the black object the late will have non-uniform fills.

How to avoid it?
It’s correct to use composite black (C60 M50 Y40 K100) for the large black fills.;

What can happen?
When printing, the color mismatch of 0,2 mm is acceptable. As the stroke width of the small print is approximately the same as mismatch value, colorful halos will be seen around the texts.

How to avoid it?
We print only CMYK colors, what means that we use four inks. Try to use in texts in small print no more than two colors. Texts in black up to 16 pt should be pure black (C0 M0 Y0 K100).;

What can happen?
The paper has its own thickness, so in stapled booklets, after the cutting, the margins on the central pages will be less wide than on the outer ones.

How to avoid it?
You should take into account the paper offset, or in order the margins difference to be less seen you can make wider margins.;

What can happen?
Booklet will be unfold.

How to avoid it?
It’s better to use thick paper only for a cover. The ideal paper for inner booklet is the one with a basis weight no more than 150–170 g/m.;
