According to the world-famous consulting company Smithers Pira, the printing market is facing changes.

Experts say that the demand for commercial printing (corporate calendars, notepads, business cards, etc.) will remain virtually unchanged, while the demand for posters, catalogs and posters will decline noticeably. In turn, the demand for packaging and its elements (warranty cards, labels) will increase annually.

According to research by Smithers Pira in 2017, digital printing occupies less than 3% of the global printing market in quantitative terms and more than 16% in value. According to the forecast, by 2022 the share of “digital” will approach 4%.

In 2017, offset printing remains the most common and popular method of printing printed products and, according to forecasts, until 2020 it will hold a share of 70 % of the market. This printing method provides high quality finished products with ideal image contrast and color; at the same time, it allows significant savings on the production of large and medium-sized print runs.

Digital printing is currently experiencing a period of growth, its growth rate is significantly ahead of other sectors of the printing industry. And traditional offset will be under pressure from its side. But regardless of any changes, print media will remain the cheapest, fastest and most easily distributed, reliable and time-tested means of information.
