The sand, shimmering in the sun like diamond chips, gives way to a glossy surface, which again gives way to a rough surface. The stripes replace one another, scatter and meet, intersecting at different angles, forming relief patterns and telling their story. Their story is that in addition to the developed image, there are subtle details that set the mood, information leaked between the lines to enhance the impression.

The TwinSpot hybrid varnishing technology became such a subtle tool for interline communication. The essence of the technology is the sequential application of two varnishes: matte and glossy. In the place where the glossy varnish overlaps the matte one, a heterogeneous roughness is obtained, reminiscent of sand. In places where matte varnish was not applied, the surface acquires a dense gloss. Thus, objects of different shapes, sizes and colors also have texture. Or, contrary to the printed image, matte and glossy spots do not fit into the overall picture, but create a separate layer with its own meaning and composition.

Glossy varnish in printing has long been assigned the role of an accent. With its help, the main objects are highlighted on the page, thus controlling the buyer’s attention. Hybrid varnish can be used both as an accent and as an alternative story. For example, you are advertising a wristwatch, and a series of patterns are woven across your leaflet with lacquer lines. Thin, barely visible lines convey a message of high cost, status and non-triviality. Something that at first glance does not have a direct relationship to your offer creates a feeling of multi-layered, thoughtful care for the client.

The innovation of the technology lies in the offset printing method used in the Wolf printing house. To apply a varnish hybrid, the printed sheet is not removed from the press and sent to the screen station. Printing occurs in line. This means that the press is equipped with six towers, 4 for inks and 2 for varnishes. First, the sheet passes through the colorful towers, and is immediately covered with matte and glossy varnishes. And of course, such a machine is equipped with ultraviolet drying, which allows you to obtain printed sheets that do not require additional drying. But besides the printing speed, the distinctive feature of this equipment is the accuracy with which the varnish lines are laid. Since no additional adjustment is required, this allows you to be sure that the varnish is accurately applied to the printed image down to the micron.

Today, hybrid varnishing is available and used for all types of printed products, including business cards, flyers and leaflets . When preparing a layout for TwinSpot technology, it is important to remember that in this case it is the matte varnish that is chosen, not the glossy one. Therefore, the layer describing the varnish should be filled with 100% spot color in places where, according to your idea, there will be roughness, and contain empty areas where there should be gloss.

Wolf Printing House wishes you an effective dialogue with clients and recommends Twin Spot technology as a means of expanding the range of business communications.
