The struggle for quality is daily painstaking work. Cooperation between the printing house and the customer is not always cloudless. Perhaps it’s just worth trying to establish more fruitful relationships - after all, the “printing house - customer” relationship is always two-way. And in order for the result of cooperation to be positive, not only experience and professionalism are needed, but also mutual respect and the ability to compromise. And then both parties will be satisfied with the result and will work together for a long time.

Today, despite the improvement of printing, competition among printing houses, 3-5% of defects is considered the norm for high-quality printing in our country. Printing is a complex process in which paper, ink, equipment, printing conditions (humidity in the print shop, temperature and even time of day), as well as the so-called human factor: a “slept” printer, a “blind” cutter, play an important role. , a “harmful” technologist... This is Ukraine, where the market for printing services is still emerging.

Naturally, each customer and each order has its own quality requirements. For leaflets placed free of charge in mailboxes, they are one, for catalogs of luxury jewelry – different. For most printed products, minor flaws are not fundamental or vital, and quality requirements should be determined based on the type of product and its purpose; there is no need to demand the impossible. Although you shouldn’t give a descent either, the quality of the product must be at a certain level.

Listed below are some approximate requirements and standards for printing adopted today in printing houses that produce high-quality products:
< /p>

The accuracy of paint registration during printing should be no worse than 0.1 mm.

Directional deformation should not exceed 0.2 mm.

There should be no marks and other third-party elements, moire, traces of contamination of transparencies, moisture and glue drips.

Overprinting of the image, sticking of individual pages of the publication, as well as non-printing should not be allowed.

Brochures must contain complete number of notebooks and additional elements with their correct location. The sequence of pages in the block must correspond to the approved layout. The shift of individual notebooks relative to each other in the longitudinal and transverse directions should not exceed 1 mm.

The combination of dies on adjacent strips in multi-page products is no more than 2 mm.

Tearing off the main block of the magazine is unacceptable when lifted by both pages of the cover or central spread. The warranty period for the stability of hot-melt binding is 60 days, provided that the spine is not bent back.

There is no mechanical damage to the paper, no traces of brooching or other elements of finishing equipment on the cover or internal notebooks, or traces of ribbons.

< p>In the case of lamination, the flatness of the laminate is at least 97%.

The accuracy of cutting, cutting, folding should not exceed 1 mm. The bevel of a multi-page publication after trimming should not exceed 1 mm.

The tightness of the pages in multi-page publications with staple binding is 3 mm for papers with a density of up to 130 g/m2, 6 mm for papers with a density of over 150 g/m2 m2.

How are defective items compensated? GOST 18242-72 clearly defines for which products what percentage of shortages is considered acceptable. And, accordingly, either the printing house reprints the circulation, or the customer is refunded money in proportion to the size of the shortage. If a certain number of copies is critical for the customer, then he needs to order and pay in advance for a larger circulation, which, depending on the complexity of its execution, includes acceptable standards for defects.

As for the timing... You should not wait for printing houses astronomical compensation and willingness to accept strict time conditions - even in the most advanced production, unforeseen situations happen. The best way not to suffer from missed deadlines is to place an order in advance. But if the deadline is tight, and the damage in case of failure is significant, you need to choose a printing house in which duplicate equipment is installed, and having notified the printing house in advance, receive unequivocal written assurances from it.
