5 ways to stand out at an exhibition or event

07.05.2019

Very often, a company, planning to present itself at an exhibition, buys a place of the largest possible size within the budget, prints a banner and standard handouts (business cards, flyers, booklets). The staff at the stand is bored, there is no dynamics, and potential clients pass by without being interested in anything. Printed materials go to paper “collectors.” The results of the exhibition are very sad: there are no new contacts or orders. The whole point is that the stand turned out to be boring and not memorable. Try changing your approach. Here are some tips on how to make your stand more attractive and interesting in order to maximize the interest of exhibition visitors.

Start long before the exhibition

Before the exhibition, study the interests and preferences of your clients: why they are going to the event and what they want to find. And at the same time, think about what promotional gifts they would like to receive.

Come up with a hashtag, and accompany all news related to the exhibition on social networks and the company blog with it. Also make sure that the hashtag is present in all printed materials for the exhibition, signage, and possibly the uniforms of employees who will be present at the stand.

In general, a specially tailored uniform for staff will distinguish you from other exhibitors and show that your company has been preparing for it for a long time, since even clothing was taken into account.

Analyze the behavior of major market players at the exhibition. Perhaps there are methods to attract attention that you can adopt. For example, organize a lottery, competitions or offer a small treat.

Distance from the “help desk” concept

In most cases, employees sit inside the booth and wait for interested customers to start asking them questions. No need to wait. Send your people into the “field”, let them be the first to ask questions, bring people into dialogue. Even if a person is looking for something completely different from what you are doing, tell him where to find what he is looking for - and he will remember you. And when a problem arises regarding your profile, they will contact you.

By the way, the employees at the stand should forget about bad mood and fatigue. Make sure that the client is always greeted by a polite and talkative employee.

Be different

Most stands are assembled from standard parts and look about the same. But if you cannot “hook” the client and leave a strong impression of yourself, then he most likely will not remember that you were represented at the exhibition. Therefore, your stand should be different from all others. Nothing prevents you from draping the walls of your stand with posters printed specifically for the event, or adding spot multi-colored light.

Hire a team of designers who have never worked on exhibitions, let your space look like, for example, the interior of an apartment in a retro style or to the captain's bridge of the ship.

Having chosen a design, try to maintain it in everything - from the employee uniform to the style of printed materials. Everything must be thought out to the smallest detail. Then the client will be pleasantly surprised by the integrity of the picture, and will highlight and remember your stand.

You can also organize some events in which visitors will be interested in participating, say, a quiz with small prizes. All this will distinguish you from your monotonous neighbors and will bring people in.

Invest in video presentation

A video, presentation, animation on a big screen looks much more interesting than static tables and graphs on paper. Therefore, it is worth hanging several large TVs on the stand and playing your advertising, statistics and even just video clips on them. This will attract people. And for those of them who want to learn more about your company, it is worth handing out printed materials on paper so that potential clients can study your offer in a relaxed atmosphere.

Use an unusual design of handouts

At exhibitions, visitors receive a lot of handouts that are often not even readable . It will also help to interest and encourage people to study your booklets or brochures non-standard design combined with beautiful printing finishing. Consider the possibility of making products of an original shape, adding openwork cutting or texture using varnish or designer paper. Such investments will definitely pay off!

So, look for unexpected solutions, stand out, play with your visitors. And then your company will be remembered by the client. He will be happy to collaborate with you and look forward to the next exhibition, wanting to see what you will surprise him with.
